Company plans to employ 50 people during the first year.
Online fashion retailer Zalando announced today that the company will open a technical development unit in Helsinki. The site will employ approximately 50 people during the first year. According to Zalando representatives, they see potential for at least doubling the number already in the near future.
The focus of the new Helsinki tech hub will be on its customer-facing products.
Zalando says the entrepreneurial spirit is one of the key reasons for them to choose Helsinki. They say they are looking to engage with Finnish startups. Also the strong talent base, strategic location as well as the fact that everybody speaks English in Helsinki, were mentioned as key reasons for Zalando’s decision.
Earlier this year, Zalando opened a tech site in Dublin.
