XXL, the Norwegian sports equipment retailer, intends to concentrate the main operations of its online store in Finland.
The Group’s e-commerce leader Tommi Jylhä-Vuorio is building a 50-people digital development team in Vantaa. According to Jylhä-Vuorio, the main reason why XXL concentrates its online store operations in Finland is the country’s rich IT talent and smaller salaries compared to Norway.
In 2015, the sports equipment retailer is opening new stores in Finland and hiring around 200-240 people. The chain is expected to be ready in Finland when the amount of stores reaches around 20.
The chain’s main goal is to become the biggest online sports store in the Nordic countries in 2015, and to be among the top five European online sports stores in 2020.
