VTT (the Technical Research Centre of Finland) is a non-profit research organization established in 1942, is the largest multi-technological applied organization in Northern Europe. It provides highend technology solutions and innovation services. Striving to improve its clients’ competitiveness and competence, VTT combines different technologies, creates new innovations and a substantial range of world-class technologies and applied research services.
VTT uses its extensive international scientific and technology network to produce information, upgrade technology knowledge and create business intelligence and value added to its stakeholders. VTT’s 6,500 customers are both domestic and foreign companies as well as public organizations in Finland and abroad.
In 2009, VTT employed approximately 2,700 people. VTT has made about 1,000 patent applications in Finland and over 1,800 abroad. Over the past 20 years it has also published nearly 50,000 publications. In 2009 VTT had over 1,100 patents and patent applications in its portfolio.
