(datacenterdynamics.com) European data center services provider TelecityGroup has made its second acquisition in Finland this year, buying Academica, a provider with two existing data centers and a third one in the works.
TelecityGroup said it agreed to pay €28m cash for Academica’s assets, which currently consist of a total of 1MW of capacity spread over two facilities and 3MW of capacity in locations not yet built out. Some of this latter capacity will be deployed in a new data center in Viikinmaki, TelecityGroup said.
Michael Tobin, the company’s CEO, said both this acquisition and the acquisition of Tenue Oy announced in August were about capitalizing on the growing Finnish market but also about getting access into Russia and the Baltics.
“Along with TelecityGroup’s recent acquisition of Tenue Oy this will reinforce our position operating the most connected data centers serving the growing markets in both Finland and Russia,” he said.
