Bayer, a global enterprise with core competencies in the fields of health care, nutrition and high-tech materials, has moved its Nordic headquarter from Denmark to Espoo, Greater Helsinki. Besides Finland, the Bayer Nordic Country Group consists of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the Baltic states Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The countries accounted for market sales of nearly €600 million in 2010. Bayer employs about 1,080 people in the region.
With the new organization the corporate functions within the region will be centrally led from Espoo. The objective is to reduce complexity and to create synergies within the administration functions to prepare the organization for future business growth within the region with the subgroups Bayer HealthCare, Bayer CropScience and Bayer MaterialScience.
In 2010, Bayer employed 111,400 people and had sales of €35.1 billion globally. Capital expenditures amounted to €1.6 billion, R&D expenses to €3.1 billion.
