(GOOD NEWS FROM FINLAND) MetaWatch is entering the consumer smartwatch market with its newest product line called STRATA. Launching on a crowdsourcing platform Kickstarter, STRATA connects with iPhone and Android smartphones via Bluetooth technology. The watch is compatible only with the latest iPhones and iPads.
The new smartwatch is styled as a sport watch, and has vibrating alert notifying customers about incoming calls, SMS, e-mails, Facebook notifications, Twitter messages and it controls your music. It also lets you check on weather, appointments, stock prices and more.
“A vibrating alert and a simple glance reveals everything you need to decide whether to act on a notification now or later. This saves time, conserves phone battery, and eliminates much of the ‘friction’ that comes with using smartphones”, says Bill Geiser, CEO and co-founder of MetaWatch.
Shipping of watch starts in September to US, Europe, Japan, Korea, China, Australia and New Zealand, and the price range is from $159 – $179 US dollars.
MetaWatch is a privately-held company focusing on reinventing the watch as a stylish and relevant mobile accessory. The company is based in Dallas, Texas and has a research and development facility in Espoo, Finland.
