Fresh and detailed insights
The data analysed by Oxford Intelligence reveals many insights into Finland’s talent pool. For example, in the IT sector Finland’s workforce is younger than the national average but highly experienced, with 36% having more than 10 years of experience and 56% having 5 or more years of experience in the industry. This guarantees a workforce that is sustainable for any employer. In Life Sciences, over 7,000 Finnish professionals already work in foreign-owned companies from a talent pool of around 81,000 skilled people.
According to Oxford Intelligence, Finland offers substantial talent pools across all these key skills areas, from which international companies can recruit. Whilst Helsinki-Uusimaa has the largest skills bases in ICT, Financial Services, Food Technology and Life Science, there are significant regional talent pools and specialized clusters across the country. Western Finland for example is the strongest in Egnieering; Southern Finland has the largest skills base in Environmental/Cleantech and is the most specialized in Life Sciences. Northern & Eastern Finland are perhaps less well known internationally, but its talent pools are at or above the national average for all the skills areas, except for financial services. In ICT skills for example, there are over 73,000 technical ICT professionals in Northern & Eastern Finland, 22% of the national total.
