Keynote speakers and radical session themes revealed for the HIMSS & Health 2.0 European Conference 2019
HIMSS, Health 2.0, and nine Finnish partner organisations have announced keynote speakers, new themes, and innovative conference initiatives.
During yesterday’s stakeholder meeting at the Messukeskus Convention Center, the organising committee revealed exciting keynote speakers and session themes from the highly anticipated HIMSS & Health 2.0 European Conference 2019, coming up on 11-13 June in Helsinki.
High-level keynote speakers announced
Päivi Sillanaukee, Permanent Secretary, Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and Prof. Dr. Koen Kas, Healthcare Futurist and Author will be joining Hal Wolf, CEO and President of HIMSS and Indu Subaiya, Founder of Health 2.0 and EVP, HIMSS, on stage for the keynote plenaries.
Sillanaukee said: “It is a great pleasure for Finland to host the HIMSS & Health 2.0 European Conference 2019 in Helsinki. We look forward to having inspiring conversations with our guests and finding new innovative models for co-operation.”
Innovative workshops and radical session themes
The organisers also announced new initiatives launching at the 2019 conference including a “Radical Health Outlook Track”, exploring the frontiers of health and innovation as well as dedicated sessions for insurers and pharma representatives. A new Patients 2.0 workshop will largely focus on diabetes and there will be an invitation-only, highly interactive “CXO Dialogue”.
The HIMSS & Health 2.0 European Conference 2019 has also selected a number of out-of-the-box session themes for the “Radical Health Outlook Track”. Some on the session topics will examine global societal trends which will affect healthcare such as climate change, refugees and migrant health. These sessions will also explore how the health and care sector will respond to these issues. Santino Severoni, Coordinator for Public Health and Migration at the World Health Organization (WHO) has been confirmed as a guest expert speaker on this topic. The full programme can be found on the conference website.
Bruce Steinberg, VP of HIMSS International, said “We are excited to be bringing over 2,000 delegates in June who will be able to witness how the role of technology, culture and innovation has disrupted healthcare in the Nordic region. Our host country, Finland, was recently ranked as having one of top three strongest health technology economies worldwide. The support we have already received in the run up to this conference is overwhelming, and I truly hope the entire digital health ecosystem will view this as an exciting opportunity to see how that innovation is applied to health first hand”.
