The Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority HSY is looking for cooperating partners in a development project. The objective is to test and evaluate new methods of treating and utilizing digested sewage sludge and other biomasses at the Ämmässuo waste treatment center in Espoo, Finland.
“We are looking for solutions that comply with the European waste hierarchy, and thus favor nutrient and material recycling over energy recovery. We are particularly interested in methods that produce fertilizers or biochar”, the Project Manager Aino Kainulainen explains.
Proposals that describe the end product, the markets for it and the operational costs of the process as well as process feeds, emissions, by-products and wastes and a preliminary plan for their management are expected by the 4th of April. The testing of new methods on HSY materials will be done in the year 2016.
