Companies are offered a unique opportunity to be part of the Helsinki region’s growth to become a forerunner as a world-class smart and clean solutions hub. The shifting needs of the world’s consumers, who are urbanizing and using natural resources more and more wisely, are throwing away older business models and creating new, unparalleled opportunities.
The Helsinki Metropolitan Area’s cities, companies and the Finnish government together with The Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra are establishing a new foundation, which aims at transforming the region to world’s forerunner in providing references from smart and clean solution development. Being a pioneer provides the region’s companies new growth and market opportunities, opened by expanding megacities’ needs for smarter and less carbon consuming solutions. The new markets will be reached through export concepts created in the Smart & Clean work. At the same time new investments, business, research and development activities and jobs are being created to the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.
The non-profit foundation develops concepts aimed at attracting investments and supporting exports. These concepts are divided into five themes:
- Low-carbon traffic and mobility
- Energy
- Built environment
- Water and waste management
- Consumer cleantech
Through the foundation’s operations the cities will open up more and more of their infrastructure for the companies’ use. The Helsinki Metropolitan Area will be transformed into a testing and development platform where entirely new products and services will be developed and existing ones improved. The region will become an example in how digitalization and bio and circular economies can enable low-carbon and climate friendly services to consumers and companies.
Join us among the forerunners
The region’s cities are now offering a chance for companies conducting their development activities in Finland to be a part of the foundation’s operations. The participating companies will have a chance to foster the creation of a new type of Finnish know-how and significant success stories.
Interested? There are many ways companies can participate, from investing in the foundation’s operations to being part of other participating companies’ production and service chains. Also research and educational institutions are heavily involved in the foundation’s work, which enables the latest research in the field to be implemented into project planning and innovations to access the markets quickly.
