In the survey, approximately 77 percent of the residents of Finnish capital were satisfied with public transport. The annual BEST survey measures how satisfied residents are with public transport services. In the Helsinki region, a total of 1,700 residents were interviewed.
The comparability of the results is ensured by conducting the telephone interviews simultaneously and using the same questions in all cities. Geneva (72 percent) was ranked as second best city, Stockholm third (71 percent) and Vienna (67 percent) fourth. In Oslo, 59 percent of residents and in Copenhagen 53 percent of residents were happy with their public transport system.
In the BEST survey Helsinki ranks high in reliability, 77 percent of respondents are satisfied with the reliability compared to average 54 percent in other cities. In Helsinki, the ticket prices of public transport are also regarded more reasonable than other European cities.
