Europe’s largest regional airline Flybe has acquired Finnish Commuter Airlines (FCA), in a joint venture with Finnair, for a total of 25 million euros. Flybe will build on FCA’s good offer of routes and talented team of employees in its seek to become the largest and most profitable regional airline in the Nordic and Baltic States.
Starting from August 2011, Flybe Nordic will make Helsinki it’s hub in the Nordic and Baltic states by opening a number of low-cost new routes to Denmark, Sweden, Estonia and Latvia. This, together with American Airlines opening a new direct flight between Chicago and Helsinki, strengthens Helsinki’s stand as the hub of Nordics and the Baltic states.
