THE OPPORTUNITY
Developed at Stanford University, Biodesign aims at improved medical care by providing a novel entrepreneurial program to selected interdisciplinary teams and by creating new businesses.
Biodesign is a systematic innovation process that first aims at identifying concrete needs in healthcare. This is followed by establishing new medical technologies and startups to address selected needs. During the first 3.5 years of the programme, Biodesign Finland teams with interdisciplinary experts that have identified more than 1000 unmet needs in healthcare. To address the most important needs, first three teams come up with three new technological solutions, currently being commercialized (see e.g. www.koitehealth.com).
We welcome companies to join partnership with Biodesign Finland.
WHY TO JOIN
Biodesign aims at thorough needs exploration before concepting any solutions, giving a sustainable basis for new startup businesses in the challenging medtech sector. Currently, the Biodesign Finland programme is financially supported by its organizing institutions. We are looking for partners to financially support the projects and to explore commercialization opportunities. Partners obtain a close view to the teams’ projects and first-hand access to the teams’ needs observations in the clinic.
REQUIREMENTS
We expect from companies the capability to financially sponsor Biodesign Finland program and willingness to interact with the Biodesign teams during the commercialization process.
SCHEDULE
The next Biodesign project begins in the beginning of year 2020. Joining partnership early gives the sponsor to access to interacting with the project teams of 2020, but also the projects teams of 2019.
