Have you been to a junior soccer game recently? If the players are very young, a single star player shooting one goal after another may be enough for a team to win local championships. At that point, it’s not about team play, and passing the ball requires practice.
In a few years’ time this kind of line-up may not be as successful. Top spots are taken by teams led by coaches who are able to set up a unitary formation of individuals; a team with a common goal and winning strategies.
Health Capital Helsinki plays on the field of developing life sciences and health technology. We want to go beyond local championships. Our goal is to make metropolitan Helsinki the number one environment in Northern Europe for research, development of expertise, and companies in life sciences and health technology.
We want to be able to recognise market demand-based innovations and set them up with financing opportunities. We support startups in their growth efforts and help them enter global markets. Growth entrepreneurship will create new jobs and result in economic well-being for metropolitan Helsinki.
This objective is ambitious. It requires consensus on the strategy and resilient team play towards a common goal.
Each player matters. Healthcare costs are constantly on the rise and, from the society’s point of view, bordering unbearable. On the other hand, Finland is known for top class knowhow and innovations in life sciences and health technology. What we need now is for the star innovators and the bold strikers to align their strategies to society’s needs. There is yet much untapped potential for making healthcare more cost-effective.
Our team’s first line-up is already set. Aalto University, City of Helsinki, Helsinki University and The Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa have taken on the challenge and are opening the game. For us to win, however, we need more dedicated players. If you have what it takes, come join the team and take part in this great tournament!
