The Finnish gaming company Playforia has been aquired by United Game Studios, a company owned by an investor with an Indian background. The value of the transaction for Playforia is approximately EUR 5.2 million.
— The deal gives Playforia an owner that is committed to investing in the industry and who has close contacts with, for example, India and China, from where it will receive considerable additional resources for boosting the company’s transformation into a developer of mobile games, says Playforia’s CEO Tom Lähdemaa.
— Playforia’s employees will transfer to the new company as existing employees. The new owner also plans to further increase the number of personnel in Finland, Lähdemaa adds.
In Finland, Playforia is known for its Aapeli gaming community service which it has been producing for over a decade. Playforia’s turnover for the last financial year totalled EUR 2.88 million.
