Helsinki based gaming company Supercell’s success continues when its new farming game Hay Day reaches a place in the Top10 most downloaded iPad games in the US immediately after its launch.
Supercell’s new game challenges other social media games such as the super popular Farmville by Zynga. According to Ilkka Paananen, the CEO of Supercell, the launch has been quite phenomenal. Just within three days Hay Day has shot to the seventh place in the US iPad listing while pushing to 13th place on the iPhone. Paananen also disclosed that according to their own analysis, they are going to be achieving similar places in their key markets in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, UK, Canada and Australia. In many countries they’re already in the top three spot.
Hay Day is Supercell’s first mobile and tablet only game. It’s designed for the iOS platform and can be played on iPhone, iPod Touch as well as on the iPad. Paananen believes there’s an increasing trend towards mobile and tablet gaming and sees this as a great window of opportunity in the new market where clear market leader is still missing. Supercell is launching two more games designed for touch screens during this summer and fall.
