PRESS RELEASE
Helsinki, Finland
On June 27 in St. Petersburg, networking event Finnish Game Day is targeting game development professionals in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine that want to do business in Finland and beyond.
“For companies seeking to internationalize, Finland is an important stepping stone to get started,” explains Oleg Paliy, the event organizer from KAATO business community that works in cooperation with Finpro’s Invest in Finland. “Finnish gaming expertise is an attractive asset for companies seeking long term success in the industry.”
Currently made up of just 2700 employees, Finland’s open, vibrant games ecosystem generated €2.4 billion in turnover last year. This figure reflects ongoing industry growth of 40 per cent year-on-year – the fastest in the world.
Representatives from some of Finland’s most successful studios will share their knowledge and experience at Finnish Game Day. Topics range from practical advice about how to get established in Finland as a foreign company, to raising capital and the benefits of being a part of the Finnish gaming ecosystem.
“Today, Finland is a creative hub for leading game developers, with a robust game cluster and vibrant gaming community,” Paliy continues. “Strong governmental support for the gaming industry aims to accelerate further growth and more than 20 educational institutions offer gaming-focused educational programs. Finland is a secure and stable environment for businesses.”
International investors have also sat up and taken notice. The Finnish games industry attracted €1.3 billion in foreign money from 2013–2015, a figure not included in its overall turnover.
Finnish Game Day is held in cooperation with White Nights Conference St. Petersburg, the international cross-platform game development and marketing conference that takes place in St. Petersburg on June 28.
