GHP and The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) are organizing a series of seminars in Washington D.C. in May 2009. The seminars are related to some of Greater Helsinki’s core competencies – the chemicals industry, mobile business and the energy industry – bringing together key players from each field.
The seminars are a part of a Helsinki event in Washington D.C., lasting the entire month of May, organized by the City of Helsinki and the Finnish Embassy in Washington.
Helsinki – The New Chemicals Capital
A group representing the core of Finland’s chemicals industry travels to Washington D.C. to meet the key opinion leaders from the U.S. chemical industry during a two hour luncheon. The opinion leaders are provided with an insight to the chemicals business in Helsinki, the chemicals capital of Europe.
The U.S. representatives are directors and experts from American chemical associations , private companies active in chemical exports and government officials actively engaged with the REACH regulation. The Finnish delegation includes Mr. Kyösti Sysiö from Helsinki Chemicals Forum, Mr. Juhani Sormunen from the European Chemicals Agency, Mr. Casper Herler from the AmCham Chemical Committee as well as other AmCham representatives.
Mobile Business
A two part mobile business event will be hosted by GHP and AmCham. The first part, a roundtable event, introduces 15 American companies to the key players of the Finnish mobile industry. The meeting focuses on what Helsinki has to offer in the field of mobile business and the advantages of Helsinki’s business environment. The Finnish companies participating are Nokia, Nokia Siemens Networks, Ixonos and Digia.
The second part, Mobile Monday Washington D.C., is an event for networking and hearing keynote speeches and subsequent discussions. The focus will be on Finnish mobile applications. Cutting edge mobile applications from the participating Finnish companies are displayed at the event.
U.S.-Finnish Energy Conference
A member of the AmCham Energy Committee, Mr. Henrik Erämetsä, takes representatives from ten Finnish companies on a road trip around the United States to familiarize them with the U.S. energy market. In Washington D.C. the group will hear about the new U.S. energy policies, their purpose and impact. The theme at the U.S.-Finnish Energy Conference is Cutting Edge Solutions for Our Sustainable Future.
During the Washington meeting the Finnish companies meet with representatives of U.S. energy funds. The participants are provided with an overview of Helsinki’s clean tech ecosystem by GHP’s Mr. Micah Gland.
