Uusimaa region, located in the southern Finland, has been nominated as the winner of the best economic potential in the category Fdi Magazine’s mid-sized regions of Europe of the Future ranking.
Financial Times publication Fdi Magazine has released its European Cities and Regions of the Future 2016/17 rankings. The report ascertains the most attractive investment locations in Europe.
Consisting of the southern cities of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa, Uusimaa impressed as the number one place for mid-sized European Region of the Future as well as the Economic Potential category. It was ranked second in Human Capital and Lifestyle.
The Finnish capital Helsinki and the neighboring city of Espoo both performed also well. Helsinki is placed as the Europe’s fifth major city with Economic Potential and sixth with Connectivity. Espoo was among the top 10 both in Economic Potential and Human Capital and Lifestyle categories for small and micro European cities.
The data for the publication was collected for 481 locations (294 cities, 148 regions and 39 local enterprise partnerships) under five categories: Economic Potential, Labour Environment, Cost Effectiveness, Infrastructure and Business Friendliness.
The winners will be rewarded in an award ceremony in Cannes, France in March 15-18.
