Finland has a higher percentage of women on company boards than any other EU country. Last year, some 27 per cent of board room seats were occupied by women, according to new figures released by the European Commission.
Latvia and Sweden came in behind Finland. On Malta and Cyprus, women only occupy three and four per cent respectively of boardroom positions.
At the moment, less than 14 per cent of board members at Europe’s biggest companies are women, the Commission said, though that figure is up slightly from just under 12 per cent in 2010.
