Finland is the 11th easiest country to do business in the world, based on the World Bank ranking.
The top five countries are the same as in 2011: Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zeland, United States and Denmark. All the Nordic countries are in the top 15: Norway is in 6th (7th in 2011), Iceland 9th (13), and Sweden in 14th (9) place.
The World Bank’s “Doing Business Index” is based on the ratings and opinions of 9000 local experts and compares business regulations in the 183 nations involved.
The report covers 11 areas, and this year saw access to electricity being added to the list. Among other factors are the ease of starting a business, level of taxes, employing workers etc. In planning permission, resolving insolvency and trading across borders, Denmark was among the top ten in this year’s survey.
