Primatek, a manufacturer of high-tech powder coatings, opens a logistics center in the Helsinki Capital Region. Finland will become an important launching pad for tapping the Northern European markets. Within two years the company will create 10-15 new jobs in Vantaa.
Primatek is one of the fastest growing powder coating manufacturers in the Baltic States. The main production facility and headquarters are located in Narva. The solutions developed by the company are used in the architecture, construction and furniture business, production of automotive spare parts, agricultural machinery and equipment, and generally in those areas where the importance of wear-resistant and high-quality coating cannot be overemphasized.
Entering the Finnish market is a logical move in pursuing the chosen strategy which enabled the company growth in the Estonian and other Baltic markets.
“Our strategy is simple and is really paying off in our own Estonian market: we not only supply modern powder coatings and flexible complete solutions at a competitive price, but we also do it quickly,” says Pekka Lehtonen, marketing manager in Primatek Coatings Finland Oy. Any standard powder coating, for example, will be delivered to our customers in Southern Finland within only 4 hours from the ordering. Not many other market players are acting with the same promptness.
Towards more sustainable coating solutions
Another strong point of the company is commitment to sustainability. Recent product development helps customers to improve their efficiency and at the same time lower environmental footprints by saving energy during the curing process. These technical advantages, along with top-notch customer support, should not only ease the company’s entry into the Finnish market but also change its structure and scale its operations to a new, unprecedented level.
“Entering the Finnish market is the first step in tapping the Northern European markets,” explains Pekka Lehtonen. “We are talking about making our customers’ lives brighter and easier. It means that we are carefully studying their needs and making a commitment to find the right solution. When people are satisfied, their lives become brighter. Our first-class paints and solutions help us do it.”
Right people in the right places
Right people in the right places: this is one of Primatek’s mottoes, which forms the basis of the company’s service concept. This principle defines the criteria for selecting personnel, including the Finnish division: future employees should not only be very qualified and passionate about their work, but also possess the best qualities typical of modern business people.
The company will create 10−15 new jobs within two years in Finland only, thus confirming the seriousness of its intentions. All employees will work in the new logistics center of the company, located in Vantaa. Primatek chose Vantaa for a reason.
“Vantaa is an important logistics hub with transport routes leading to all parts of Finland and other countries, including Estonia. It is highly important in building a safe logistics chain,” says Pekka Lehtonen. “Another advantage is the closeness to Helsinki with its numerous business services, universities, inspiring atmosphere and infinite possibilities for new partnerships.”

Primatek’s started entering the Finnish market after meeting the representatives of Business Finland and, later, the team of Helsinki Business Hub.
“We have held several consultations and meetings with Primatek representatives, attended by our colleagues from Business Finland and Business Vantaa. We discussed such matters as company registration, successful launching of business in Finland, labor law and searching for employees. This is an excellent choice for Primatek: the Helsinki Capital Region, which includes Vantaa, is not only the best logistics center, but also one of the leading innovative hubs in industrial chemistry, paints and coatings,” says Maria Hartikainen, senior business advisor at Helsinki Business Hub, international trade and investment promotion agency for the Finnish Capital Region. “We are sure that Primatek will enjoy huge success and further expansion in Finland and Europe.”
