The City of Vantaa and Jinan High-tech Zone have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Jinan, China, on January 15th, 2016, with the aim to enhance business cooperation between Finland and China. The first concrete step is the opening of a representative office of Jinan High-tech Zone in Vantaa in early 2016. The office, operated by China International ICT cluster (CIIIC), will help more Chinese companies to access the Finnish market. It will also serve as a platform for Finnish and Chines companies to cooperate, as well as provide easier access to China for Finnish companies looking for growth and and internationalisation.
The next Chinese company to land in Vantaa might well be JiNan DaLu Mechanism & Electron co. Ltd. They are considering opening an incubator in Finland in 2017, with the help of the Jinan representative office.
The MoU was signed during the Jinan business forum. A delegation of Finnish companies with a strong focus in China participated in the forum. Vaisala, Pöyry, MariMatic and Vantaa Energy all presented their solutions, and are all continuing negotiations with their Chinese counterparts. The companies were joined by a delegation from City of Vantaa, Helsinki Business Hub and Finpro.
Jinan is a city of close to 7 million inhabitants in Eastern China, in the Shandong providence, a two-hour train ride from Peking. City of Vantaa and the City of Jinan have been sister cities for 15 years and have over the years built a very close relationship.
