
The transaction guarantees Bluegiga Technologies a broader reach across the international markets.
The US company Silicon Labs has acquired Bluegiga Technologies, a Finnish specialist in the industrial internet.
According to Bluegiga Technologies, the transaction guarantees it a broader reach across the international markets. The acquisition is valued at EUR 54 million.
“Bluegiga’s products and operations will secure new potential at Silicon Labs. This will ensure further development of the technology and access to an even broader global market,” says Jari Suominen, General Manager at Aura Capital, formerly the largest shareholder in Bluegiga Technologies.
Bluegiga Technologies, established in Espoo in 2000, specialises in wireless technology. It has developed products needed on the industrial internet, such as bluetooth and wifi modules. Silicon Labs produces software and system solutions for the industrial internet.
“Bluegiga’s wireless modules and software stacks round out our wireless portfolio and complement our IoT solutions. The addition of Bluegiga wireless modules gives us new ways to deliver simplicity to our customers, enabling developers to easily add wireless connectivity to their designs,” says Tyson Tuttle, CEO of Silicon Labs.
