The Winter Sports Afternoon, co-organized by Helsinki Business Hub, the cities of Lahti and Rovaniemi and Sport Smash, gathered over 80 participants from different organizations and companies from China and Finland to the Finnish Ambassador’s Residence in Beijing on 9th May 2017. The afternoon was part of the larger Winter Sports Week organized in Beijing on 8.-12.5.2017.
Ambassador Ms. Marja Rislakki opened the event and addressed the good cooperation with China and Finland. This is demonstrated by for example the joint declaration written during the Chinese President Xi Jinping‘s visit to Finland last April, where Winter Sports and Coaching was mentioned as one of the areas of cooperation. Mr. Yan Naxin from the Beijing Winter Sports Management Centre mentioned in his speech that China’s goal is to have 8 million persons involved in the winter sports only in the Beijing area, while the goal for the whole China is 300 million persons.
The afternoon’s highlight was a table top ice hockey game between The Beijing Winter Olympics Committee’s Director Ms. Wang Yanxia and Finnish Embassy Commercial Counsellor Mr Kimmo Siira. China won the game 1-0.
The Finnish Delegation also participated to the 12th China Skiing Industry Forum Skiing and Ice facilities and Equipment Expo (CSIF) on 11-12.5.2017 with a common Finland 100 years booth. The CSIF expo offered an excellent opportunity for Finnish companies to meet with potential buyers and business partners as well as network with the international players from the field.
Finnish Companies represented at the event where Vaisala, Lifa Air, Suomen Tekojää, FCG, AmerSports, Reima, IcePeak and Finnish Olympic training centers Santa Sport, Kisakallio and Pajulahti.
