The Curious AI Company, specialising in artificial intelligence, has raised 800 000 euros in funding from high-profile investors. The Curious AI Company startup is a spinoff of Zen Robotics, a company developing robotic systems for waste processing.
Among the investors were the US-based Invus Group LLC, Balderton Capital from the UK and Lifeline Ventures from Finland. The news was reported by the Finnish business magazine Talouselämä.
The Curious AI Company is not engaged in R&D aimed at commercial applications. Instead, the company performs basic research in artificial intelligence (AI) which others can then apply in their products.
According to Talouselämä, the interest shown by investors can be taken as a sign that AI research will be such a hot topic globally in the future that rapid commercialisation or net sales are not even expected.
The Curious AI Company was founded by Harri Valpola, Antti Rasmus, Timo Haanpää, Mathias Berglund andTapani Raiko.
