As Helsinki’s tech scene continues to rapidly grow, its demand for talent is butting up against massive tech employers like Nokia, Tieto, and Microsoft. Today there’s a new need for international skills in both large and small companies. Talent Pool Helsinki is a new online service to connect experts with Helsinki region companies.
One of our main priorities at Helsinki Business Hub is to ensure Helsinki can attract and retain top tier talent. But just like every other undertaking, the unique challenges of this year have encouraged us to find new ways to reach out to the developers, engineers, designers, and everyone else who’s looking to work in the happiest country in the world.
In addition to physical and virtual events, this year we’ve expanded our strategy by building an online talent pool where future Finnish tech workers from all over the world can drop in their profiles to be viewed by Helsinki’s startups, scale-ups, and large tech companies.
Both job seekers and hirers can get access to Talent Pool Helsinki here.
According to Nisha Yadav, Talent Advisor at Helsinki Business Hub, one of the goals of the Talent Pool is to raise the profile of Helsinki to those who may not be actively thinking about opportunities here. By marketing the ecosystem as a whole and providing a central resource, local tech employers can draw in a wider variety of talent than just the job profiles of current available positions.
Another goal is to educate future tech workers about working in Finland to ensure they’re a good fit for local employers. “We tell them everything about the work life culture in Helsinki so they know what to expect,” Yadav explains. “There’s a great work-life balance here, but part of that trust is because people take responsibility for their own work. And looking outside, it’s not always summer here.”
While the Talent Pool is designed to reach future employees, Helsinki Business Hub also intends to use this as an extension to our 90 Day Finn campaign, which provides on-the-ground help for tech professionals looking to test out Helsinki during a short-term stay in the Helsinki region.
The Talent Pool is part of the national Talent Boost project, designed to connect local companies with international talent, and vice versa.
Let’s talk talent.
It’s all up here. Find inspiring job opportunities and a booming start-up scene. Develop yourself in the happiest and the most innovative country in the world.
