Aalto University was established in 2010 when the Helsinki University of Technology, Helsinki School of Economics and the University of Art and Design were merged. The new university provides high-quality research and education in six schools (Art and Design, Chemical Technology, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Science) and creates an internationally attractive environment for learning and research. The combination of six schools opens up new possibilities for strong multi-disciplinary education and research. The new university’s ambitious goal is to be one of the leading institutions in the world in terms of research and education in its own specialized disciplines.
