Any aviation company wishing to enter markets such as Russia and China – with which Finland has strong trading relationships – can benefit hugely from establishing a base in Helsinki, thereby harnessing local business services, funding, R&D and participating in a supported aviation community.
Talk to us about any of the following and we would be delighted to help:
Access to the Russian airport market
As a result of political and trading relationships, Finland knows all about doing business in Russia. Through the Vantaa Innovation Institute project Airport Cluster Finland, we have paved the way for airport equipment companies internationally to combine with Finnish member companies to enter the Russian airport market shoulder to shoulder.
Links with China
There is a plethora of links between Finland and China. For example, the Finland China Technology Cooperation Committee, set up by Vantaa Innovation Institute, in cooperation with the China Development Bank supports investments and collaborations between Finnish and Chinese companies. In addition, the Finnish Environmental Cluster for China supports green opportunities in China, an important consideration in aviation.
Our expertise in business innovation
Vantaa Innovation Institute is expert at bringing to market new ways of doing business. The Airport Concepts program is a fine example. Through Airport Concepts, Vantaa Innovation Institute has developed new service concepts by combining products and services to be offered to airports internationally.
A strong airline community
International routes from Helsinki are increasing with Japan Airlines, American Airlines and Flybe now connecting the Finnish capital with even more cities. Norwegian has just announced seven new routes and increased frequencies for existing city pairs over the summer season. Helsinki has never been so well connected.
Burgeoning traffic growth to Asia
Finnair alone operates 14 destinations to Asia; six of these being to Chinese cities. In fact, Helsinki boasts high numbers of direct flights to Asia with flight times between Helsinki and Asia being particularly short, thanks to Finland’s geographical location.
Expertise in logistics
Derived from its location as a pivot between east and west, as well as its position on the Baltic Sea, Finland knows how to support a thriving logistics industry. Helsinki offers so much potential for warehousing, parts provisioning and the timely movement of freight. Just ask Ceva Logistics.
Access to funding through Finnish agencies
Tekes is the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation. It is the most important publicly funded organization for financing research, development and innovation in Finland. Every year, Tekes finances some 1,500 research and development projects. This year will be no different.
The facility for trials and pilot programs
Helsinki Airport offers the perfect location for pilot airport equipment and IT projects. In cooperation with Finavia, the service operator and developer of Helsinki Airport, we can facilitate such trials to help prove new concepts and bring fresh products to market.
Finnish ICT expertise
Finland is synonymous with ICT. For example, the Strategic Centre for Science, Technology and Innovation in the Field of ICT furthers the pace of development and know-how within the ICT ecosystem. Close to the airport, Vantaa Innovation Institute’s innovation activities promote the growth and development of ICT companies. Finland will always shine as an ICT economy – just watch.
A paradigm of environmental excellence
Finland is an exemplar of clean technologies. Through initiatives such as Green Net Finland, this is a country that champions and supports green technology, alternative fuels and future-proofing aviation equipment.
Sites and networks: Aviapolis and Marja-Vantaa
Airport city Aviapolis and the Marja-Vantaa region deliver world-class business environments and offer tools and networks for business internationalization as well as the opportunity for creating new business. Through careful investment, the City of Vantaa has built the place for significant aviation business to be conducted.
